I hope that 2016 will bring lots of safe and enjoyable cycling to everyone.
Happy New Year!

Well done Raasay, sorry I did not make your ride today but I had to make all sorts of plans to venture to Cowes IOW to spend New Year with my middle child Natalie. Sadly I have failed to secure a sensible train assisted ride. Due to engineering works etc I was told that the best route was from Epsom to Clapham J and hence return to Southampton Central hence to pier then by Red Funnel to Cowes East a total journey time of over 5hrs assuming all goes well. The alternative route (my normal) from Redhill was defeted by many sections being by bus (bikes not permitted), so I decided to abandon N.Yr. in IOW.

At this time of goodwill to all men and women, the laws of physics are not to be denied. Isaac Newton knew what he was talking about:
To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
Jeff
P.S. There are also other laws not to be denied. The 'phone has not stopped ringing with with a tsunami of agents, hysterical to sign up this trio of irresistible, testosterone glutted gauchos. I am in negotiation with them and my compadres right now!
Thanks to you, life will never be the same.
My cycling days may be over!
Gracias, Tony.

When I started riding with the Wayfarers in October 2013 I was probably about E30.
Regular Wednesday and Sunday rides have brought me to E66. First 66 miler was not until February 2014 and the 66th was Mark's hillclimb ride in September.
At present I am two 67 mile rides short of E67. Although last month I did two rides of 66.1 and 66.8 miles without realising the significance a detour to the end of the road and back would have made!

Mildly addictive, Neil!

Nice! A healthy version of E numbers!
PaulKelly 15 December 2015 at 16:43 GMT
Trust me Simon, E60 in one year is not healthy!

May sound simple to you Mark but to me it still sounds complicated! When I get my head around it as the Beatles would say "I (we) can work it out". On the other hand I don't think I want to become addicted like Neil, I already have too much of a problem with Booze, Pipe smoke but unfortunately not fast women, so I guess an "E" factor might be a good substitute!

There must be some mistake. This looks far too sunny for a Christmas lunch :-)
I couldn't help feeling as we went along that there might have been a shorter route! |

Now you've reached your 60 targets you've got a reputation to maintain - i.e. 70 comparable targets; it doesn't get any easier!
PaulKelly 08 December 2015 at 22:33 GMT
I've retired!
Mark G 09 December 2015 at 08:06 GMT
Well done, Paul.
But Ged's right. Have you taken a look at Eddington Numbers? Another good way of setting yourself an ever-increasing challenge!
PaulKelly 09 December 2015 at 08:35 GMT
In the year, 60.
Overall 68.
I need: 6 over 70 to get to E70
35 over 80 to get to E80.
E70 might be possible next year!

WELL DONE Paul, but why sit back for such a long period? That might give rise to the thought one wet, windy Wednesday morning "why am I doing this"? And straight on to the biscuit tin and the remote control. It will make re-entry harder.
My own efforts this year have been curtailed by a visit to the man with the knife but I will be back in the new year. I did manage to achieve some targets:
1)maintenaces of an average grade in excess of 1% ie the Richard Park yardstick.
2)discovery of at least one good pub or cafe/month.
TTFN, GBS

Well done Paul - a great achievement to mark your 60th year. But I do rather like Geoffrey's idea of a target to discover at least one good pub or cafe per month - maybe that could be the 'stretch' target for next year!

Apologies, Hans. Today I have to eat one of the very many Christmas lunches I have signed up for ...
