A Group - Challenging Ride

The feasting is over, and next Wednesday brings the first of the Spring Classics - the Hilly Over Fifty. For those who haven't done it before, this is most of the CTC Hilly 50 done at a gentlemanly or ladylike pace. Not for us the sweaty thrash to finish the course in two hours; we prefer to savour our pleasures - two hours to lunch, an hour of refreshment and lofty conversation, then two hours to tea. A steady pace, re-group at the top of each hill and no racing on the downhills.

Leave Dorking just after eleven, lunch at the Volunteer and tea at Annie's about four o'clock.

ps - no bonus hills this year ...

Mark, Just to let you know I regret I shall miss the over 50's Hilly 50 as I shall be in IOW helping daughter Natalie overcome (hopefully) the bizarre desire by the local constabulary to prose4cute my daughter for an alleged traffic infringement and the I will be acting as an outrider to help Paul Smith do a training ride in the Portsmouth are on Wednesday. Go to www.justgiving.com/challenge200 Hope you have an enjoyable ride.

Pity about that, Mike. Still, you got a good look at it on Saturday.

Annual Lunch at Prezzo - 7 March

For the A Group, B Group and Easy Riders all roads led to Cheam
I would say that portion control left something to be desired

I think this includes everybody, even if you can't quite see them

A word of thanks to all who, on a damp and uninviting day, made their way by one means or another, to our annual lunch at Cheam.
Thanks to:
  • Linda for making the arrangements
  • our ride leaders, the unsung heroes who keep us on the right road
  • the back-room boys and girls who quietly do all the organising
  • all the MWW members who make the Club such fun

Annual Lunch at Prezzo - 7 March and T shirts

Refund of Deposits (and T shirts)

Dear All,

As Julian, Treasurer and Keeper of the Flattened Marzipan Tin, may not be able to join us next Wednesday, he has asked if we would please pay our bills in full and assures us that he will refund our deposits as soon as he can. The usual drill is that he refunds at Prezzo the £2 deposit that we have already paid, to everyone who is there and catches up with those who couldn't make it after the event. Either way, bills are paid to Prezzo in full. However, he is a tough negotiator and I have not been able to agree any interest on the £2 deposits held beyond next Wednesday.

Linda tells me that the last Prezzo voucher deal ends on 5th March, but there might be another early next week, so keep your eyes peeled.

Also, if you have lost your shirt,
Linda has got the printed T shirts. She can bring them with her on Wednesday; hopefully, some can collect at North Cheam. Cost is £6.50 inc vat per shirt.

If you have a Daily Telegraph Subscriber Card you can have two main courses for the price of one - better mention it when ordering. See DT Fri Mar 2 p24.
