The plans to celebrate International Womens Day reminded me that I have a book written by freelance journalist Rebecca Lowe about her solo 11000km ride in 2015 from London to Tehran. If you would like to read it then I'm happy to pass it on. Just let me know and I can bring it to elevenses.

Photos
arrive in this HC category for numerous reasons, not delivered before
the deadline, not showing an obvious link to cycling, not taken by the
person submitting the photo, exceeding the quota of two photos per
category, or not meeting other criteria for the competition. But they
are good photos all the same so we are pleased to be able to exhibit
them along with those in the main categories.
A
big thank you to Ken and Paul Day and Paul James who judged the photos
this year, (along with myself). We were pleased to be able to include in the display a selection of Neil Warlands's photos from the 'Manche to Med' (St Malo to Sète) cycle tour he and Patrick did with a Green Jersey group in the Summer.
Since well before my time as a coordinator of the photo competition Jez Darvill at Bowlrite in Tolworth has engraved our trophies. It was a bit of a blow to discover In January that he had retired but this year Adorn Jewellers in New Malden have taken on the task and we are grateful that they could deliver all 13 trophies in time for presentation.

Steph has designed a scenic and at times undulating B Group route in the Surrey Hills for this Wednesday, 8th March. Around 15 miles each before and after lunch.
We will meet at the Fairfield Centre in Leatherhead for Elevenses.

For those unfamiliar with or needing some re-orientation about the traditional Cheam and Morden Hilly 50k, rescued from oblivion by Mike Morley, there is a link to it on the Home Page under the Rides tab. This includes several useful links, which may have survived the ravages of time and technology.
Here is a link to the Hilly 50 which may be of some interest, if time has not dulled my ability to navigate the blogger. Let's see.
The links are of course out of date and would need updating by the Committee and those website gurus more informed and competent than me!

3 enthusiastic ladies have recce’d a lovely 41 mile ride from Leatherhead back to Leatherhead via The Sussex Oak in Warnham. Not too hilly with a total of 1,900ft climbing.
A photo of the menu is given below and I’ve been asked to submit a pre-order by early Sunday evening so please let me know by 5pm Sunday if you’d like to join the ride and your order.
I’m conscious that the forecast for next week is looking decidedly chilly with the likelihood of sub zero overnight temperatures and maybe snow. I’ll therefore check the latest available forecast before submitting the pre-order and will let you know if any change of plan looks advisable.

You are warmly invited to a celebration of Shirley's life at St Paul's church, Howell Hill, SM2 7HS, at 2.00 pm on Thursday 30th March. Refreshments will follow in the church hall.
There is a limited amount of cycle parking in the walkway around the church.
The family will have held a committal service earlier in the day.
Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to downsyndromeOK and/or Macmillan Cancer Support at the church or via their websites.
We are investigating the possibility of streaming the service on YouTube.
