From the convenience of Cobham, the ride goes via Staple hill, Albury/Shere Heath to Peaslake, then Hurtwood, Holmbury Hill, Pasturewood Lane, Friday Street. A set of spectacular and beautiful lanes which I would say are at their best at this time of year. Here is a view of the lake on Friday Street near dusk this evening .. two deer on the far side - idyllic!
The Wotton Hatch pub is a new venue for us. It is a fine pub with a good beer garden. I suppose many of us have driven or ridden past and thought 'looks a nice venue, should try it'. This is our chance. The lunch menu is higher priced than our usuals, and they want early pre-orders. So please can you view the menu and send me your order ideally Saturday. I agreed to send a partial order on Saturday and an update on Sunday. Don't be put off if you can't hit those targets, it should be ok to add a few on Monday. But please I'm hoping to get most orders to them on Sat/Sunday.
On my reccie a few weeks ago I rode up Sheephouse Lane after lunch, from that experience the route is adjusted to go *down* Sheephouse to the pub then follow the A25 to Hollow Lane, that gives over a mile before the gradients restart, they're not as steep as Sheephouse. The ride continues over the general Leith Hill heights circling south-east for a grand finale with the long missed Anstie, then an easy run all the way back to Leatherhead.
Route length 39.7 miles, elevation 2,775 ft (garmin), 21.5 miles to lunch.
