Midweek Wayfarers B ride 6 August from Cobham.
Our
ride from Cobham this week will be a repeat of Dave F’s on/off road
route to Puttenham which was billed last month as an A/B ride. Having
enjoyed riding it then and with a generous amount of off road I felt it
would make a very nice B group ride this month! 41 miles in total, lunch
being pretty much halfway. After the B’s hilly sojourn to Kent last
week it will be a doddle! Link to the GPS route below.
We
will be taking it at an enjoyable pace (Christina and Paula are subs)
and road bikes should cope with the surfaces. (See Dave’s comments from
last month below -
“The
route includes two sections of hardpacked or gravel woodland trails,
all of which have been ridden on previous group rides.
After an initial slog up Ranmore
via Chalk lane and Green Dene, we cut “traffic free” from Staple Lane
across to Guildford Pewsley Down via Newland’s corner. I have done this
often on 32mm road tyres with no problems. From Pewsley to lunch its
tarmac and a couple more hills (Farncombe and Puttenham common).)
I believe all of the paths will be familiar to B group riders too.
On
our recce the views across the rolling Surrey countryside were
breathtaking! Our lunch will be at The Good Intent in Puttenham.
The pub requires pre-ordering and there is a link to the menus below.
The afternoon also involves some off road but is mostly on familiar roads back to Cobham for tea.
Please let me know if you wish to join this ride and what your lunch choice is by 4pm Monday 4 August.
I very much hope you can join us.
