B Group Ride Report - 26th August '26

It's the team work that makes our rides enjoyable. My thanks go to Clive J for finding the Banstead Community Centre as an 11s venue (one of my favourites after accidentally putting my name down as the ride leader !) Tim C for devising the initial route and discovering the Farm House Pub at Horley. Also Keith R and Pete B (both very experienced riders who have fantastic local knowledge) for refining and leading the ride. We had brave riders who joined us for the ride in the glorious sunshine and some headwinds when we went down the steep hills. Last but not least, Francis D and Tim G for back marking and collating the ride reports with some fantastic photos taken by our able photographer Pete B. Thanks all for another fantastic day out riding in great weather and all your company.

Team KR all in line.

I must say that it’s always a pleasure cycling with you all. I just love all the banter and laughter that occurs throughout the day. Apologies if the pace was a little too fast, it wasn’t quite an ‘A’ ride but more of a ‘B’ plus ride.

Team PB ready for action...

... a break in the shade.

Not many hills, but I always get a climb in when returning home to Tadworth.

Despite the threats of rain, the weather was in our favour. We set off from Banstead via Woodmansterne to Chipstead for the long climb up Howe Lane which was quite busy for some reason. Then along the ridge to Markedge Lane. From Merstham we headed east on Rockshaw Lane. Pretty uneventful ride, with a nice few cycle trails to the Farmhouse for lunch. We parted ways before Leatherhead. Thanks to Tim for back marking and Christina for planning it.

Time for tea...

...after a good day out !
